The process of turbine dismantling

Sooner or later, any unit fully works out its resource and needs to be replaced, which also applies to steam turbines, the service life of which can no longer be extended by repairing it on site. Dismantling is required, however, given the complexity and bulkiness of the machine, such work can only be performed by qualified specialists using special tools and equipment. This applies to all types of units of this type: condensing, heating, with industrial steam extraction, and etc. LLC Russ-Turbo company will perform such work at a high professional level!

Before dismantling procces, it is necessary to disconnect the turbine from the source of incoming steam. Then water is drained and pumped out water from the condenser and turbine is freed from oil. The next step is to remove the fittings and measuring instruments. Most ikely, these parts all in working state, so care must be taken here so as not to damage anything. After that, the casing with insulation is dismantled, the cylinders and rotors are disassembled, and the machine body is freed from incoming and outgoing pipelines, the condenser is cut off and the foundation bolts are unscrewed. The task is to ensure that after the completion of these operations, the unit can be easily removed from the foundation. It is necessary to remove shields and platforms, quick-closing, bypass valves, and other elements.

When the steam turbine is ready to be removed from the foundation, the slings are wound up and it fastened to the lifting device. This operation also requires special attention, since not every mechanism is able to perfom this task. The unit is taken out of the room in which it was installed, it remains only to decide its future fate. Perhaps the untit can still be sent for overhaul, but even if it is not possible, it is dismantled for scrap metal and used as a recyclable.
