Howden is different from classic steam turbines and provide a combination of 1 to 4 low-stage turbines transmitting torque through one or two reductors to one shaft drive unit, mainly a generator. The reductor housing is mounted on a frame, inside of which there is an oil tank. Also, all units of the oil system are mounted on this frame. The steam plant consists of a casing, rotor, impeller mounted on the rotor, nozzle apparatus, graphite seals, control valves depending on the modification, a stop valve and drainage lines. Single-stage steam turbines can operate in both backpressure and condensing modes.
Compared to conventional turbines, Howden steam turbines are more compact, easier to build and repair.
We specialize in carrying out inspections of any level on Howden steam turbines with the supply of necessary spare parts. The term for inspection of type C and D is from 10 working days, depending on the modifications and the list of defects.
- Overhaul (inspection C) is carried out every 3 years or when the specified operating time is reached.
- Refurbishment of steam units (inspection D) is carried out every 12 years or when the specified operating time is reached.
It is recommended that inspections be performed on Howden steam turbines on time as required by the manufacturer to detect and correct faults and damage early.
