Borescope examination of gas turbines

Borescopic examination of gas turbine is carried out to assess the condition of the equipment at the time of the inspection and plan the list of required work during the subsequent repair of the gas turbine. Endoscopic examination is the most effective means of dynamic monitoring of the gas turbine state without dismantling it.

The list of visual inspection areas includes:

  • AFCS input device
  • Guide blades at the compressor inlet
  • Intermediate rotor stages with compressor blades. Foreign object damage, cracks, dirt buildup, corrosion, blade tip erosion, thinning, stator blade base erosion, and end clearances are inspected.
  • Combustion chambers with turbine nozzles. Examined for build-up of soot, overheating, cracking, swelling, wear, foreign object damage, corrosion, clogging of cooling holes, peeling of thermal barrier coating, missing or damaged seals, side wall deformation in the flow path, erosion and burnout.
  • Turbine blades with guides. Also, if the customer wishes, additional diagnostics of the turbine unit is performed to determine the general technical statevof the turbine and its components (compressor, gas turbine, auxiliary equipment).
Upon completion of the borescopic examination, a report on the work performed is provided, including a defective list and required spare parts for subsequent repairs.

LLC Russ-Turbo performs borescopic examination of gas turbines of the following manufacturers:
